Similar to a Yak, Highland cows have long, beautiful, shaggy hair. Per their name, they are originally from the Scottish Highlands. Most don long locks of red or brown, but Gertrude was a blond beauty. I loved how her hair covered up her eyes, and how, in this frame, she tilted her head slightly as if listening to what I might say next. My affinity for cows definitely holds true with these beautiful highlands—so much so, I have this portrait of Gertrude hanging in my house.
