Description
This stunning Serigraph was realized by the acclaimed 20th Century Hungarian-French modern Artist Victor Vasarely in the United States circa 1970. Printed in a small edition, this graphic serigraph by Vasarely - widely considered to be the godfather of Op-Art- features a grid-like form with what appears to be a protuberant form "popping out" of the frame towards the viewer. The perimeter of the grid is composed of sapphire blue and rose quartz squares, while the interior form appears as emerald and garnet. Only the center appears as a unique shade in a forest green with an onyx center. With its ebullient palate and dynamic form, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. The piece is signed by the artist in the bottom right hand corner and numbered "71/325". The pieces comes presented in a custom off white lacquered gallery frame. Excellent vintage condition.
Victor Vasarely was the 1964 recipient of the Guggenheim and was awarded the French Chevalier de L'Ordre de la Légion d'honneur in 1970. He is featured in museums, private collections, and institutions throughout the world, including the Guggenheim and the MoMA in New York.
