Description
Large silver, amethyst and quartz model of an eagle attributed to Asprey
Swiss, c. 1970
Height 42cm, width 50cm, depth 35cm
This stunning sculpture, attributed to Asprey, the renowned British jewellers and goldsmiths, depicts a regal eagle perched on a large rocky base.
The eagle’s head and talons are crafted from silver gilt. The lifelike details are especially impressive, with the open beak and visible tongue adding a striking realistic effect that brings the piece to life.
The body of the eagle is adorned with quartz crystals in varying sizes, almost appearing as if growing from the bird itself. Larger quartz pieces accentuate the underside of the wings, emphasizing the eagle’s commanding and majestic stance, while smaller crystals delicately cover the silver feathers.
The wings and tail are formed from cut silver elements. The finishing on these is remarkable, replicating the intricate texture of real feathers.
A large amethyst stone serves as the base for the sculpture, adding both stability and aesthetic appeal. The use of quartz and amethyst imbues the piece with symbolic meaning. Quartz is thought to foster spiritual growth, while amethyst has long been associated with royalty and love.
This remarkable work of art would make a stunning addition to any collection.
