Description
With his hands on his hips and a look of contemplation, Bemelmans, with a few lines, captures the essence of a top Chef. This is not a portrait of a specific individual but more of a visual metaphor for sophisticated taste. After Madelin, the most cherished Bemelmans characters are his snooty and snobby waiters, Maître ds, and Chefs. Chef Big Hat stands as both an icon of Bemelmans's style and a document of the upper-class world of Hotels such as Ritz-Carlton in New York, which Bemelmans had a lifelong association with.
Titled upper left and signed lower right. Work is framed under glass in a period wooden frame. Framed dimensions: 26.5 x 22.5 -
