Rare and Unusual Paint-Decorated Blanket Chest

Condition Excellent. Excellent untouched condition with original paint decoration.
Creation Date New England, ca. 1820-1830.
Description Having a thumb-molded top opening to a well interior with a till, the conforming case with an applied base molding is supported by shaped boot jack ends. The piece is complemented with a rare and unusual free hand-painted decoration of lozenges and dots on a salmon ground color.
