Custom Queen Bed with Storage

The live edge walnut headboard of this custom queen size bed was selected for its color and subtle arching shape. The end cuts were made at angles that felt pleasing to me, in relation to the overhang of the projecting, floating nightstand on one side. Large, deep drawer--2 on one side and 3 on the other-- provide lots of storage and feature simple, handsome , integrated pulls. At the foot, open compartments and one with a door round out the asymmetrical composition of features, lending an overall visual balance, interest and function. The walnut used is all matched (from the same tree) and laid out in continuous grain orientation.

The recessed base is painted and designed at a height to accommodate the wheelchair wheels of my client whom I designed this for-- as is the overall finished height of the mattress. This bed can be recreated in a variety of sizes, and orientations, as well as woods/finishes.
