LOUIS XV KINGWOOD MARQUETRY COMMODE ‘A FAÇADE CINTRÉE’
With two short drawers over two long drawers. Fine quality gilt bronze mounts and shaped Breche marble top.
France c. 1750’s. Stamped 'A.M. CRIARD’ and also with the ‘JME’ stamp, the mark of the Jurande and quality. One later key.
Antoine Mathieu Criard 1724-1747 Maïtre ébéniste 22nd April 1747
The eldest son of Mathieu Criaerd who used the stamp A .M . CRIARD. He worked successively in Paris in the rue de Charenton, rue de Richelieu, rue St- Thomas-du Louvre and finally in the rue du Bac. It appears that he did not work for very long due the rarity of his pieces. Amongst his clients was the Royal household of Louis XV.
