With a Gadroon on the Base
New York, Circa 1770.
Primary Wood: Mahogany
Secondary Woods: White Pine, Tulip Poplar, Sweet Gum (by micro-analysis)
Provenance: Private Collection, Los Angeles, California.
Reference: Another chest of drawers with ogee feet and a gadroon molding with canted corners is in the Winterthur Museum Collection and is illustrated in Charles F. Hummel, American Chippendale Furniture – Middle Atlantic and Southern Colonies, page 27, figure 17. -
