French 19th Century Empire Commode
-
Description
Four total drawers compose this dignified Empirically-styled mahogany commode. This case piece is topped in black / charcoal-colored fossil marble that, along with the body, has patinated wonderfully over the decades. A hidden drawer, free of any hardware, resides in the commode’s apron. It features six premade sections, for not only a bit more storage, but nice organization as well. Iconic of the Empire style, two columns flank the bank of drawers, each having decorative brass capitals and bases. Cast brass ornamentation graces the commode’s pulls, incorporating a floral bouquet into their centers. Brass can also be found in the bird-head and overflowing floral basket escutcheons. There is no key needed or included with this piece. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look.
