Description This refined pair of Art Deco end tables/ nightstands were realized by the esteemed designer Gilbert Rohde- one of the most celebrated and influential figures of the 20th century- in the United States circa 1940. They feature volumetric rectangular bodies in bookmatched mahogany with a central drawer newly upholstered in tufted white Edelman leather embellishments, a raised border circumscribing the top perimeter and klismos style feet. Each nightstand has a central compartment fitted with a shelf that boasts circular brass pulls with a concentric circular design etched into the surface. With its luxurious finishes and clean modernist lines, these pieces are as versatile as they are aesthetically compelling, blending perfectly with any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary. The nightstands/ end tables- a part of Rohde's acclaimed "No. 4140 Bedroom Group"- is documented on page 128 of the "Herman Miller 1940 Catalog & Supplement: Gilbert Rohde Modern Furniture Design". The pieces are in mint restored condition.
