Description
Evocative of romantic Mediterranean gardens, this mid-20th-century Italian tole chandelier is a poetic celebration of nature and craftsmanship. Hand-forged from iron and delicately painted, the piece is richly adorned with winding vines, lifelike foliage, and hand-formed flowers in soft tones of blush, yellow, and verdant green. A patinated finish with touches of gilt enhances the sculptural detailing and adds depth and warmth to the design.
Eight gracefully scrolling arms extend from a central crown adorned with stylized acanthus leaves, each arm topped with a faux candle sleeve that mimics aged wax for an authentic, timeworn feel. The leafy vines seem to grow organically from the frame, wrapping around the arms and body in a naturalistic composition that blurs the line between function and art.
This chandelier is a beautiful example of Italian toleware, combining the rustic charm of wrought iron with the elegance of botanical motifs. It would be a stunning addition to a garden room, sunlit entryway, or dining space where a bit of Old World romance is desired.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
