Description
Designer: Anton Fogh Holm and Alfred Andersen
Nordisk Solar
Denmark - Circa 1960s
Dimensions: 13" H x 20" DIA
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. New old stock.
Elevate your space with the ethereal presence of the “Starlight” pendant, also known as the “Sydney Light,” a masterwork of lighting design by Anton Fogh Holm and Alfred Andersen for Nordic Solar. Model 74516. Conceived in Denmark in 1968, this pendant embodies the zenith of Scandinavian design, merging architectural form with luminary function. Three pendants are currently available and priced individually.
Crafted from all metal and finished in a crisp white lacquer, the pendant boasts a constellation of spiky shades that radiate outward, resembling a celestial starburst. The high-quality build of this Scandinavian design is evident in both its appearance and the stunning light effect it produces, casting intriguing shadows and a warm, diffused glow that can transform any interior.
Whether it’s providing a central light source above a dining table, accentuating the area over a kitchen counter, or welcoming guests in an entryway, this pendant is a statement piece that captures the eye. Its design is both iconic and rare, striking the perfect balance between vintage allure and contemporary sophistication.
These pendants are new old stock and have remained unused since their creation in the late 1960s / early 1970s, making them a unique and pristine acquisition for any design aficionado.
Each pendant accommodates a standard light bulb of up to 100 watts, ensuring ample illumination. The fixtures are presented with a 6-foot white cord and a 5.25-inch diameter original white-painted canopy, offering a complete installation package. The versatile white cord can be readily adjusted to a longer length or exchanged for a different color to match your decor preferences.
With dimensions of 13 inches in height and 20 inches in diameter, the “Starlight” pendant is perfectly sized to command attention without overwhelming a room. This piece is not just a light fixture; it's a sculptural statement that embodies the innovative spirit of 1960s design, a luminary that will shine with timeless appeal. -
