Art Deco Chandelier in Satin Nickel & Transparent Glass Rods by Atelier Petitot

This stunning Art Deco chandelier was realized by the legendary Atelier Petitot in France circa 1930. It features a prominent round channeled finial in satin nickel with a convex protuberant center detail topped with vertical translucent glass rods. Eight frosted glass panels sit along the bottom of the chandelier secured by streamlined glass supports suggesting stylized fins. These sculptural glass embellishments meet vertical rectangular supports along the sides of the chandelier that run vertically holding the myriad stacked glass rods in place. The rod of this fixture consists of a bullet form embellishment with an abundance of glass rods also secured by polished nickel fittings. With its iconically Art Deco sensibility (and materials) by one of the great makers of the 1930s, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of the period as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite. The height can be adjusted to suit. The chandelier has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. The chandelier accommodates eight European based bulbs, providing more than ample illumination for virtually any interior setting.

Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878 in Paris, selling wholesale lamps in Europe and to the United States. Petitot's son, Henri took over the shop in 1917. Along with Hettier et Vincent, Atelier Petitot became the largest producer of French Art Deco lighting in the early 1930s. The maker continues to be one of the most celebrated and sought after producers of lighting from this period.
