Description
Black painted iron chain link floor lamp with three horseshoe base, French circa 1900
height: 75 in. (191 cm.), diameter: 12 in. (30 cm.)
“Happy art thou, as if every day thou hadst picked up a horseshoe.”
Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie, 1847, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807 – 1882)
An emblem revered across cultures, the horseshoe symbolizes protection, prosperity, and good fortune. Crafted from iron, it’s believed to ward off evil spirits. Its crescent shape echoes lunar deities, while its orientation—upwards or downwards—dictates the flow of luck. A symbol rich in history and spiritual significance, the horseshoe remains a beacon of optimism in today’s world.
