Description
Mid-century modern lamps are still coveted pieces thanks to their atmospheric light and disciplined, functionalist design that is not shorn of unique decorative elements. Not only does this one-of-a-kind model possess most of the best characteristics and material combinations of the era, its decorative elements are also more distinctive compared to other models.
This uniquely decorated ceiling lamp was designed in an era in which Europe saw the birth of many of its most iconic lighting models. It was a period of consistency, excellence, and sophistication design wise. Despite its age, this ceiling light has a hint of Art Deco in its design, with sinuous lines and pronounced decorative elements. The brass frame features two arms with defined curves that hold two glass shades. Each one has a tall cylindrical shape framed by brass rings on both ends. The opal glass with its milky texture is the perfect backdrop for the decorative crosses forming diamond shapes on the shades. The eye-catching brass stem and the opal glass catch the light beautifully, which is one of the best qualities of European mid-century modern light fixtures. The elongated lines are further enhanced by the canopy’s third arm that has a purely decorative role and showcases the brass’s beautiful patina. The design is especially outstanding when the light is lit, brighting up the brass structure and the shades.
The composition of the shapes and clever decorative elements give this ceiling lamp a stylish look that is guaranteed to set the tone of its interior. The modern, sleek design’s organic lines create a perfect balance between the ornamented features of the early 20th century and the later phase of mid-century modernism with its more minimal, simplified lines.
