Description
Mid-century modern lighting design was influenced by a variety of art movements, including Surrealism and the abstract expressionism of the 1950s. Surrealist art, which emerged in the 1920s, favoured dreamlike imagery and challenged rational thought. This approach to art inspired mid-century lighting designers to experiment with unusual forms and materials, which can be observed in this wall lamp.
While it is unquestionable that the glass shade stands in the focus of the design when lit, the bronze frame is just as remarkable. Carefully crafted to ensure a perfect fit and finish, the bronze material adds to the overall durability and longevity of the wall lamp. The frame has a unique surface with an intriguing and organic look; it engulfs the glass shade like a budding flower, which creatively sets this lamp apart. The bubbles in the glass provide a beautiful visual effect when the lamp is lit, creating the image of shining sunlight. The glass casts a soft and warm glow in all directions, further enhanced by the bronze frame.
Sconces are a timeless type of lighting fixture that can easily elevate their surroundings. The enduring popularity of mid-century wall lamps is a testament to their versatility, making them a worthy investment for any modern living space.
