Description
Designed by Carlo Nason for AV Mazzega in Italy between 1970 and 1979, this sculptural mid-century modern sconce exemplifies the artistry and innovation of Murano glass design. The piece features four large, hand-blown glass elements in transparent and deep brown hues, their textured surfaces diffusing light beautifully while revealing rich tonal depth. Nason’s refined sense of geometry and proportion lends the sconce a striking yet timeless presence.
Versatile in application, it can be mounted as either a wall or ceiling light, offering soft, atmospheric illumination. Reflecting Nason’s exceptional craftsmanship and the technical mastery of Murano artisans, this work embodies the sophistication and creativity that define Italian design of the 1970s. Highly collectible and visually captivating, it stands as a distinctive expression of Carlo Nason’s modernist vision and Murano’s enduring glassmaking tradition. -
