Description
The columnar standard is composed of a series of turned and banded sections, richly chased and engraved with scrolling foliage and floral motifs in high relief. The lamp retains a beautiful aged silvered finish with gilt bronze accents, producing a soft, time-worn patina throughout.
The circular stepped base features intricate repoussé decoration and sits on gilt bun feet, echoing the refined neoclassical sensibility characteristic of Caldwell’s finest metalwork. The upper section is fitted with its original four-arm cluster socket, complete with pull chains. No shade is included.
A superb example of Caldwell’s craftsmanship, combining sculptural form, technical mastery, and elegant surface treatment. Marked for Caldwell with "C" within sideways diamond.
E.F. Caldwell was one of America’s premier designers and manufacturers of electric light fixtures and decorative metalwork from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. Founded during the advent of controlled electricity, the firm became renowned for its innovative lighting designs, superb craftsmanship, and collaborations with leading architects and interior designers of the Gilded Age and beyond. -
