Description
Truly exceptional pair of sconces almost certainly by Nils Tove Edward Hald (1883-1980) for Orrefors Glasbruk, a marvelous example of the Modern Classicism / Swedish Grace style, the pair is incredibly considered in design and craftsmanship, each consisting of apricot glass ¾ cylinder diffusers, with carved fluting and flame motifs, that fit perfectly on custom nickel plated mounts with oval plates and L-shaped brackets, Sweden, 1920s. The attention to detail is present in every aspect of the sconces--even the zig-zag teeth on the mounts that cradle the diffusers on the bottom are subtly gauged to become larger in the center to create a sense of focus and drama...
