Description
Mid-century modern pieces function very well because of their simplicity and fine craftsmanship. What unites the European lighting models of the era can be observed in this ceiling lamp: a clear design that can be enjoyed without being distracted by too many details.
With its nature inspired organic look, this ceiling lamp is reminiscent of European icons’, such as Paavo Tynell’s design language. Crafted from brass, this chandelier features a delicate structure that is designed to showcase the five spherical glass shades and the black painted metal leaves arranged between them. This beautiful motif can be found on the cluster as well, divided by a brass ring from which the arms and leaves appear to flow out of. The five downward facing glass shades are placed at the end of the arms with polished brass cup holders. Their spherical shape and opaline surface stand out beautifully against the black painted leaves and the brass. The sphere shape was often chosen for lighting models as it diffuses and shows off the warm light emitted on a large surface, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The leaf motif’s delicate look is counterbalanced by the black colour, preventing the design from looking gaudy. European designers were especially skilled when it came to subtle decorative elements, with a keen eye for balance. They managed to achieve a level of expressiveness - that frequently drew inspiration from previous design movements - without excess elements.
The cleanliness and minimalism of mid-century designs is a timeless look that blends so well with other types of home decor. This ceiling lamp is perfect to add a touch of elegance to any space without being overwhelming. Its expert craftsmanship and unique character make it a timeless evidence of the golden age of mid-century European lighting design.
