Description
French, late 19th Century
Height 82cm, width 77cm, depth 50cm
These gilt bronze (ormolu) wall sconces (lights) are elaborate and highly elegant in their design. They are fashioned in the Rococo style, after decorative arts of the Louis XV period in France (1715-1774).
The wall sconces are of matching design. Each light is composed of a shaped backplate which is decorated with scrollwork, stylised curling acanthus leaves and flowers. Each backplate supports ten leafy, scrolling arms which terminate in wide foliate drip-pans, capitals and sconces, topped by white candle-tubes. - More Information
