French Pair of 19th Century Altar Torches

Description
This delightful pair of French 19th century altar torches are made from sturdy wood and metal. Raised gilt brass ornamentation of cherubs and the initials IHS, which stands for Jesus, grace the top of the torches. At one time these would have been lit by fire, today they have been rewired for the US using UL listed parts. Reeded column forms attach to the wooden post above a metal bracket that fix the torches to a wall for stability. The wooden post has a great red tone that contrasts nicely with the brass on top.
