Gae Aulenti Floor Lamp Mod. Oracolo for Artemide, 1960s

$ 9,500
  • Description
    Gaetana "Gae" Aulenti (1927-2012) graduated in architecture in Milan in 1954. A decade-long collaboration with the historic magazine Casabella-Continuity (1955-1965) proved crucial to her education.
    In her first buildings and early furniture, a neo-Liberty style and a critical revision of modern architecture is evident.
    After important participations in the Milan Triennials of 1960 and 1963, she began a fruitful collaboration with Olivetti, Fiat, Max Mara, and Knoll.
    In addition to industrial design works (for Artemide, Poltronova, Fontana Arte, among others), interior architecture and a series of major renovations stand out in her long career, including the Gare d'Orsay in Paris, transformed into a museum (1986); Palazzo Grassi in Venice (1986); the Scuderie Papali in Rome (2000).
    She also created set designs for RAI, La Scala in Milan, and the Odéon Theater in Paris.
    Here we have the famous "Oracolo" floor lamp designed at the end of 60s for Artemide. It is made in lacquered metal structure and opal glass diffuser.
    Published in:
    Casa Amica, Novembre 1969, p. 47;
    Catalogo di produzione 1974, p. 45;
    G. Gramigna, Repertorio 1950-2000, Allemandi, 2003, p. 164.
    Good condition, fully original.
    We recommend a wooden crate for shipping as the glass diffuser is fragile.
    The light can be rewired for US standards upon request.
