Leleu Art Deco Four Arm Chandelier with Frosted Glass Shades
-
Description
This Georges Leleu French Art Deco five-light chandelier is a remarkable example of early 20th-century French design, embodying the elegance and innovation of the Art Deco period. Originating from France, this chandelier presents a modernist form, characterized by clean lines and geometric shapes, a hallmark of the era.
A nickel-plated metal frame forms the chandelier's structure, its polished surface enhancing brilliance. A central, Lalique-style molded etched opalescent glass shade radiates soft light, surrounded by four unique stepped outer shades.
Each of the five glass shades is signed "G. Leleu," confirming the chandelier's authenticity and attributing it to the renowned French designer Georges Leleu. This signature adds to the piece's value and collectibility.
With dimensions of 33.5" in height and 25.5" in diameter, this chandelier makes a significant statement while maintaining a balanced and harmonious presence. The inner shade measures 5" in height and 14" in diameter, while the outer shades measure 2.5" in height and 8.75" in diameter, highlighting the varying sizes and proportions of the glass components. This beautifully proportioned chandelier is a treasure of art deco era. - More Information
