In Scandinavia, interior lighting was of particular importance - with dark winters in the Nordic countries, light has been used to bring a feeling of cosiness and warmth within, referred to as “mysigt” in Swedish, or more widely known as the Danish concept of “hygge”. This stunning mid-20th century chandelier was made at the esteemed company, Glössner. This chandelier features distinctive materials, with the polished brass arms extending outward, each supporting a frosted glass shade. The shades, reminiscent of delicate flower petals, provide a soft, diffused light that creates a warm and inviting ambiance. The contrast between the gold-toned brass and the white shades highlights the sophistication of Swedish modern lighting design. The slender brass arms give the piece a graceful, almost floating appearance. The general shape remains quite traditional, with upward facing light bulbs and multiple arms, arranged symmetrically.
