Description
This pair of wall lamps were designed by Mauri Almari. Though lesser known internationally, Almari was a significant figure in Finnish mid-century lighting design, contributing to a wave of modernism that balanced simplicity with warmth.
By the 1950s, Finland had established itself as a force for innovation in design. The best qualities of Finnish light fixtures are their atmospheric light and disciplined, functionalist design. This "71032" model is all about its brass structure, featuring sleek cylindrical bodies capped with polished brass on both ends. Their minimal, symmetrical form speaks to a distinctly Nordic approach to lighting. The soft diffusion of light from either end of the cylinder creates a warm ambient glow, ideal for hallways or accent lighting. The lamps are mounted by simple yet refined brass wall brackets, further highlighting the fact that the choice of brass not only reflects the durability emphasised in Finnish craftsmanship, but also contributes to the lamp’s warm, inviting presence.
Often, many people begin thinking about the overhead lighting and how it will serve the space - however, it's wall lighting like this that plays the most pivotal role in getting it “just right”. This wall lamp pair is truly timeless and would make a lovely addition to any interior.
