Description
Floor Lamp with White Washi Paper Lampshade, Designed by Isamu Noguchi.
This floor lamp features a delicate white washi paper lampshade, a bamboo shaft, and a spherical cast iron base. The paper shade is marked with a red sun and crescent moon, along with the facsimile signature of I. Noguchi.
The Akari (Japanese for “light”) series has been designed by Isamu Noguchi since 1951, with new models added over 35 years. Inspired by traditional Japanese chochin paper lanterns made of washi paper and bamboo, Noguchi aimed to revitalize Japan's faltering paper lantern industry through the use of these traditional elements. This iconic piece blends cultural heritage with modern design, making it a timeless addition to any space. - More Information
