Reflecting Valerie Goodman Gallery’s commitment to expanding its artists’ creative reach we are pleased to premiere Jacques Jarrige’s Light Figures alongside new kinetic suspended sculptures at the 2023 edition of Hampton’s Fine Art Fair, July 13-16th at booth 341
The Parisian artist, working in both wood and metal meditates on the vulnerable human condition, feeling its way relentlessly, concerned with being wholeheartedly invested in the present, seizing the moment, guided by the mystery of inner light and higher purpose.
The figures in wood and aluminum are abstract to semi-abstract, roughly of human size, the line hesitant, repeated yet never the same. The cut-out wall sculptures are illuminated by LED while the hammered aluminum of the kinetic figures reflect the light. They bring the space to life, inviting the viewer to slow down, meditate and participate. The humble materials, the gesture and the movement provide a window into the rigorous and exhilarating process of creation. -
