Art Nouveau table lamp in superbly carved Cuban mahogany designed by Johan Rohde (1856-1935), with base comprised of a lobed column capped with volutes, balanced on an ebonized wood sphere perched atop a round base sculpted in radiating planes mounted on a green marble disk. A wonderful example of Rohde’s passion for reinterpreting Classical themes with his unique language of mannered biomorphic modeling. Denmark, 1910s
