Description
A Magnificent Pair of Ormolu-Mounted Pink Chinese Porcelain Three-Light Candelabras – A Masterpiece of East and West
This fabulous and large pair of 19th-century Louis XVI style ormolu-mounted Chinese porcelain three-light candelabras is a striking blend of Chinese artistry and French opulence. The exquisite pink ground porcelain, likely an export creation from late 19th-century China, is adorned with finely hand-painted decorations featuring graceful Chinese figures, playful children, scholar’s objects, scrolling vines, and lush florals, including peonies and chrysanthemums—each motif brimming with symbolism and tradition.
After its journey from China, the porcelain was expertly mounted in Paris with sumptuous doré bronze fittings, enhancing its grandeur. The ornate ormolu bases, provide a regal foundation. Each detail is hand-chased and hand-chiseled to perfection, demonstrating the masterful craftsmanship of 19th-century French artisans.
A rare and luxurious statement pair, these candelabras embody the height of cross-cultural elegance, making them an exceptional addition to any distinguished collection or interior.
Similar porcelain can be found in The Frick Museum.
