This exceptional, monumental mid-century modern table lamp was designed circa 1975 by acclaimed Italian master glassmaker Carlo Nason for the historic AV Mazzega workshop in Murano, Italy. True to the optimistic and futuristic "Space Age" aesthetic of the 1970s, this iconic "Egg" lamp features a brilliant modular design comprised of three distinct, mouth-blown interlocking glass segments.
The top and bottom sections are crafted from crystal-clear handblown Murano glass, while the central egg-shaped diffuser features an elegant white filigree spiral pattern. This multi-piece design is cleverly engineered to allow the top section to act as an integrated vase for abstract decorative displays. When unlit, the object functions as a clean, architectural glass sculpture. Once illuminated, the internal light source passes through the layered opalescent lines, casting a soft, ambient, and beautifully textured glow across any room.
