Description
This remarkable pair of Mid-Century Modernist sconces hails from the renowned glassmaking workshops of Murano, Italy. These sconces combine sophisticated craftsmanship and the highest quality materials with a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic, creating lighting elements that are as much works of art as they are functional pieces.
Each sconce features a frosted glass shade in a softened rectangular form, providing a diffused and ambient glow. The frosted finish adds delicacy and elegance, while its delicate organic lines maintain the material elegance combined with simplicity characteristic of mid-century design. Adding a dynamic flourish, a striking spiral amber drop extends beneath each shade, offering a dynamic and warm contrast to the frosted glass and serving the form and composition beautifully.
The sconces are mounted on lovely polished backplates that allow the glasswork to take center stage. Their refined design makes them ideal for a variety of interior spaces, including dining rooms, living areas, or hallways, where they can provide both illumination and an artistic statement. These sconces exemplify the timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship of Murano glassmaking, blending artistic beauty with functional design to enhance any mid-century or contemporary-inspired setting. Newly rewired to American Standards, these sconces accommodate one edison base bulb each achieving up to 100 watts of light. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
