1940s Russel Wright Art Deco Hardrock Maple & Spun Aluminum Torchiere Floor Lamp
This rare 1940s Russel Wright Art Deco torchiere floor lamp is a striking example of Machine Age design, combining hardrock maple with spun aluminum accents. The slender maple pole is detailed with six thick spun aluminum ring disks, rising from a solid round maple base and culminating in a dramatic bell-shaped spun aluminum shade. The lamp remains in excellent vintage condition with minimal age wear, and the aluminum retains its original luster. The original cord remains intact, and the lamp is in working condition. Dimensions: 65 ¼ inches tall, base 12 inches wide, shade 11 ¼ inches top diameter.
Russel Wright (1904–1976) was one of America’s most influential industrial designers, celebrated for bringing modern design into everyday homes. His creations spanned furniture, ceramics, housewares, and lighting, all characterized by streamlined forms and practical elegance. Wright’s work epitomized the democratic ideal of design—modernist pieces that were both accessible and functional. This torchiere reflects his commitment to blending warm natural materials like maple with sleek, modern metals, producing a timeless Art Deco statement piece. - More Information
