The mid-century modern movement was more than a design trend - it was a new design ethos that emerged in a world recovering from war, seeking simplicity, functionality, and a break from the past's ornate styles. The movement was influenced by the International and Bauhaus movements, and it embraced the philosophy that good design should be accessible to all.

These lights exemplify the movement's emphasis on modern materials and streamlined forms. The set features rectangular Opaline glass shades, which provide soft, ambient illumination. The opal glass dims the light to create a cosy effect with its great qualities. The distinctive white colour is obtained by adding opacifiers to the glass melt. It stands out for its elegance, resistance and practicality which is why it has steadily been around since the 16th century.
