Description
These star-shaped chandeliers are from a recent body of work by the designer Thierry Jeannot, who incorporates plastic waste into his mesmerising fixtures.
They come in various sizes and shapes and we can work on bespoke pieces in different colour schemes or sizes, as well as whole light installations. (Note: for inspiration and more insights into the collection, please refer to the range of images here in the image selection).
The piece is a result of Jeannot’s over 20 years of research into the PET material and its characters and origins within the trash system in Mexico City. His chandeliers are handcrafted, for more complex pieces often over a few months. The artist achieves a true transformation of those specimens of plastic into a luxury symbol, which is a crystal Chandelier. They have a strong effect on the public eye in the sense that ‘what you see is not what you get’.
His work transfers waste into luxury and conveys the inherent message that waste is a luxury. Thierry's work has additionally a social aspect. He incorporates disadvantaged people within Mexico City by teaching them to find the right type of bottles, rescue them from trash, and involve them in various aspects of the construction process. This work has changed many lives and given new hope. As such the pieces are stunning, sparkling light objects and a powerful testimony to life and beauty. -
