Description
This is one piece of a family of sconces by Mexican artist Thierry Jeannot. The piece is a result of Jeannot’s over 20-year-long research into the PET material and its characters and origins within the trash system in Mexico City. The artist achieves a true transformation of those specimens of plastic into luxury symbols. They have a strong effect on the public eye in the sense that ‘what you see is not what you get’.
His work indeed transfers waste into luxury and carries the inherent message that waste is a luxury. Thierry's work has additionally a social aspect. He incorporates groups of disadvantaged people within Mexico City by teaching them to find the right type of bottles, rescue them from trash and in involving them in various aspects within the construction process. This work has changed many lives and given new hope. As such the pieces are stunning, sparkling light objects and a powerful testimony to life and beauty.
In the images, you can see more of the pieces of this sconces family. They have a lovely art-deco feel. We can work on various sizes and shapes and we can create a entre wall light installation (see images). -
