Description
Tiffany 16" Pansy table lamps are usually high quality, but some are better than others. This is one of them. It's got gorgeous flowers, with yellow, orange, blue and purple petals. Some of the glass petals are highly mottled while others are highly textured, as you can see in the 4th photo. The shade has a beautiful original patina on the leadwork and is in near mint condition, with very few, if any hairline cracks. It's properly signed on the lower interior rim TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 1448-12. Dash numbered shades are highly desirable because it means they were part of a limited run; this example being #12 of probably fewer than 15.
The base is a wonderful example of a bump library base. Tiffany referred to it as Library, standard, cushion base, hammered design. The hammered part refers to hand-chasing of the bronze - a labor-intensive, very nice touch. It's got three original Bryant sockets and is properly signed underneath TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 364, plus a scratched in 2124.
This lamp is special and belongs in the best collections. It's ready to decorate your home. -
