Description
This original Tiffany Lamp features an 18-inch diameter Nasturtium Shade. The first leaded glass Nasturtium shade model was likely designed for Louis Comfort Tiffany by Clara Driscoll around 1900. As Tiffany Studios expanded production the motif was adapted by the “Tiffany Girls” into a variety of sizes and shapes, including several models intended for table lamps.
This domed shade depicts clusters of red, orange and yellow Nasturtium blossoms surrounded by a dense array of the plant’s rounded leaves, each formed by a circular piece of variegated green Tiffany Glass with heavy mottling. Near each grouping of flowers, the leaves are streaked with hints of either red, orange, or yellow, an impressionistic rendering of the layering of foliage and flower, while the leaves located near the crown of the shade feature hints of a blue sky. The shade curves under at the lower edge. accented by a border row of mottled variegated blue-green Tiffany Glass.
This exceptional example of Tiffany Studios’ Nasturtium Shade is paired with an original bronze Tyler Lamp Base in brown patina. Both the shade and base of this authentic Tiffany Lamp are signed. -
