Signed Art Deco Cubist Frosted Glass and Nickeled Bronze Chandelier by Degué
-
Description
This gorgeous Art Deco skyscraper style cubist frosted glass and nickeled bronze chandelier was realized by the fabled French maker Degué, circa 1930. It offers a hexagonal bottom shade etched with a variety of cubist geometric forms and five similarly inscribed shades secured to a lustrous nickeled bronze frame. The chandelier connects to a hexagonal canopy- hand-hammered with an organic dappled texture- via a rod of the same form with horizontal banded detailing. With its clean modernist lines and impeccable construction by one of the most storied ateliers of the period, this chandelier is sure to delight discerning deco collectors, as well as those with a penchant for rare and beautiful objects. Its austere form and geometric forms make this piece as versatile as it is gorgeous, blending perfectly with any style of interior from Classic Art Deco to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. The height can be adjusted to suit. It accommodates seven candelabra based bulbs offering up to 420 watts of light. Each frosted glass shade of the chandelier is signed "Degué France."
