'Nessa' and 'Nevodo' glass table lamps by Vistosi, Italy, 1971
-
Description
The lamps were produced by Vistosi in Venice in 1971, designed by Luciano Vistosi.
They are both made of mouth-blown white and clear glass.
The production was entirely artisanal: that means that, given two standard versions, one slightly horizontal, the other vertical, each piece turned out differently one from the other.
On both pieces the wires are the original ones.
The lamps were called ’Nessa’ and ’Nevada’, that in the Venetian dialect means nice and nephew.
'Nessa', as a compromise between the two original models, is still produced by Vistosi.
The company is one of the longest living Italian businesses: its origin date back to the 16th century and it has been in family hands until 1989, when the company was bought by a group of Venetian glass produces and moved from the original premises on the island of Murano, to the mainland in the Venetian area.
Several Italian designers as Ettore Sotsass, Gae Aulenti, Vico Magistretti, or Angelo Mangiarotti have worked for the company in the last 50 years, as it became a leader in the production of glass lighting.
The dimensions of the two lamps are cm 24x30x42h, cm 40x34x26h
The price is per piece. -
