Description
Bronze floor lamp by William Guillon. Fascinated by space and science fiction, William Guillon gives us an interpretation of another world via his extraordinary organic light sculptures.
These pieces marked the beginning of a new chapter for William Guillon’s studio, a key moment in its history. With this collection, he has ventured into an entirely new aesthetic and revealed a more intimate side of his creative process. Sweet Thing references both David Bowie’s iconic song and one of John Carpenter’s biggest hits. This series marked a turning point, not only in the way he creates the objects, but also in the very nature of production.
Each piece is hand-carved in his workshop before being cast in bronze in a French foundry and then finished in the workshop. The texture he developed is the result of a particular process that reminds him of the science fiction movies of his childhood. It evokes an extraordinary beauty, mixing the organic and the futuristic in a style all its own.
William Guillon is a French Designer and Art Director based in Bordeaux, focused on one-of-a-kind lightings and accessories. His work draws influence from his obsession for unconventional beauty which is reflected by radical and organic creations. His aesthetic is rooted in an innovative exploration of traditional craftsmanship aiming to push the limits of matter while maintaining a sense of strange elegance. Every single piece of work endorsed by William Guillon is handmade in France and most of them are unique or numbered as limited editions. -
