Probably English or American, ca. 1765-1780
Mahogany veneer, carved gilt-wood and gesso, mirror plate
Fine original condition, minor imperfections, minimal restoration to the original gilt
Provenance: Purchased at Skinner Auctions, Marlborough, MA; Private Collection
A well-developed example of a Chippendale mirror with a scrolled pediment surmounted by a spread-wing, carved gilt-wood eagle above a looking glass flanked by carved gilt-wood leaf and bud motifs with a shaped drop panel. -
