Description
American, probably New York, ca. 1820
Carved gilt-wood and gesso (white pine)
Condition: Fine condition, some wear and touch-ups to gilt, replaced backboard.
The ornately carved circular frame with convex mirror plate is surmounted by a well-executed carved, spread-wing eagle perched on rocks, flanked by carved foliage. The bottom portion has a carved drop pendant with matching foliage.
