French 18th Century Petite Gilt Mirror with Original Glass

An exceptional French gilt mirror from the late 18th century retaining the original mirror glass framed by delicately carved molding. The heavily patinated molding incorporates scrolling patterns and pearl beading that come alive by the deep red bole exposed by the patination of the gold leaf and areas of loss. Adding dimension to the original mirror plate is a crackled effect that sparkles in the light, spotted with a random scattering of dark foxing that draws the viewer in for a closer look. Rather petite proportions allow this mirror to find a home in many different rooms and decorating styles. Note that the frame is displayed in vertical orientation but is symmetrical to install horizontally. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
