A dramatic French 19th century gold gilt mantel mirror with original mirror glass revealing curious patches of foxing. The rectilinear molding incorporates a subtle, trellised motif that is nearly imperceptible under the deep red bole exposed by the patination of the gold leaf. The result is a surprisingly organic effect of tactile variety with a faint shimmer of gold, drawing the viewer in for a closer look.
