George II Gilt Mirror of Architectural Form

    A finely carved George II looking glass, dry stripped to its original gilding having a swan neck pediment centered by the original cartouche carved with scrolls and acanthus leaves, the molded pediment carved with acanthus leaves, the inside of the pediment having gesso carved leaves and flowers resting on a frame having outset corners, molded with egg and dart, the flat surface sanded and gilded surrounding a frame carved with a gadroon molding. Each corner having carved and gilded flowers matching those on the pediment. England, circa 1730.
