Description
An exquisite midcentury Italian modernist wall mirror in the style of Gio Ponti, 1950s. The mirror features an elegantly shaped brass frame with gently arched and curved top and bottom sections, subtly tapering along the sides toward the center. Decorative attached brass scroll elements form lyrical, crown-like accents at both the top and bottom, lending the piece a sculptural and refined presence. The reverse retains a partial wood backing. The gracefully curvaceous brass frame displays a rich, original patina, while the original mirror plate shows minimal foxing, consistent with age and attesting to its authenticity.
A fine example of Novecento design—an aesthetic that balanced classical elegance with modernist innovation—this mirror reflects the design language Gio Ponti employed across his furniture, mirrors, and decorative arts. Sophisticated and timeless, this striking midcentury mirror will add a refined accent to interiors ranging from traditional to contemporary. -
