Mid-Century Italian Shaped Brass Wall Mirror with Scroll Decorations

This unusually larger example of the model features a graceful tapered silhouette, widening toward the top with softly rounded corners and a slender brass frame. Its larger scale gives it a particularly strong presence while preserving the elegant proportions of the design.

The brass frame is embellished with finely formed brass scrollwork at the top, sides and lower edge. A lyrical central flourish crowns the mirror, complemented by symmetrical curved elements extending from the sides and a delicate scroll motif below. The combination of the shaped brass frame and fluid brass ornamentation gives the mirror an elegant sculptural presence while retaining the lightness and restraint characteristic of Italian modernist design of the period. The mirror retains its original wood backing.

This distinctive vocabulary of scrolling and curvilinear brass decoration was also employed by Gio Ponti and other leading Italian designers of the mid-century period, combining classical decorative references with a more modern, streamlined sensibility. The warm brass retains a rich natural patina that enhances the mirror's authentic vintage character.
