A Directoire painted and carved bergére
France, late 18th century
Size: 37 ½” back height, 21” seat height, 23 ½” wide x 17 ½” deep
A Directoire painted and carved bergére with tapered and fluted legs with acanthus leaf decoration, the arm rests with circular knobs and carved rosettes in the center, the sides and oval back with rope like carving; the seat rail with carving set inside oval reliefs; with blue velvet upholstery. -
