A pair of carved and gilded wood Roman Neoclassical side chairs
Rome, late eighteenth century
Size: 40 ½” high x 18” seat height x 21” wide x 17” deep (103 x 46 x 53 x 43 cm.)
Each side chair with cartouche shaped backs with a central oval medallion on the crest rail with classical portraits of a man and woman surrounded by gilded beading. The apron with arched carving and a central acanthus leaf motif flanked by carved rosettes within blocked corners above tapered fluted legs terminating with acanthus leaf carved feet. -
